Workers Rights should never be out of Fashion!

Italian affiliated trade unions FILCTEM CGIL, FEMCA CISL, and UILTEC call for an 8-hour strike on Friday 13 January over the unresolved dispute on the renewal of their respective collective agreements, which have now expired more than ten months ago. In conjunction with ‘Pitti Uomo’ the key menswear fashion event, trade unions call for a national demonstration in Florence to voice publicly the concerns of 500,000 workers in the Textile, Clothing, Leather, and Footwear (TCLF) sectors from 52,800 Italian companies. These actions will serve to shed light on the unstable situation of these workers and the need for the renewal of their respective collective agreements.

IndustriAll Europe expresses its support to our Italian affiliates Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl, and Uiltec-Uil in their demand for a fair and fast collective agreement in the different TCLF sectors. We support the call that the TCLF industry’s tradition of industrial relations should be respected and we stand alongside all the workers who will participate in the general strike and the demonstration that will take place on Friday 13^th January in the fashion capital Florence. Italian workers in the TCLF sectors are highly qualified and skilled workers and must get their fair part of the profits and added value that is generated in this sector.

We believe in credible social dialogue that can strengthen the situation of Italian workers in the TCLF sector and we call on Italian employers in this industry to respect the rights of their workers.
