Meeting today (25/11/20) industriAll Europe’s Executive Committee, condemns in the strongest terms the oppressive action of the Turkish police against members of our Turkish affiliate Birlesik Metal-Is.
Birlesik Metal-Is had called for a march from Gebze to Ankara yesterday morning to protest the unfair dismissal of workers in several companies and the use of the pretext of Covid-19 to single out trade union members for unpaid leave.
A massive police presence prevented the start of the march and 109 members of Birlesik Metal-Is were taken into police custody. Video footage of the arrests shows extensive police brutality in the process.
The freedom to demonstrate is a fundamental right. We will never accept that this is called into question and we condemn the use of violence.
IndustriAll Europe and its affiliates call on the Turkish government to immediately stop the oppression of trade union members.
Lors de sa réunion d’aujourd’hui (25/11/20), le Comité exécutif d’industriAll Europe a condamné l’oppression de la police turque contre les membres de notre organisation affiliée turque, Birlesik Metal-Is.
Birlesik Metal-Is avait appelé à une marche de Gebze à Ankara hier matin pour protester contre le licenciement injuste de travailleurs de plusieurs entreprises et contre l’imposition de congés non payés à des membres de syndicats au prétexte de la COVID-19.
La police présente en force a empêché le cortège de se mettre en marche et a procédé à l’arrestation de 109 membres de Birlesik Metal-Is. Des vidéos des arrestations témoignent de la brutalité avec laquelle la police est intervenue.
La liberté de manifester est un droit fondamental. Jamais nous n’accepterons que ce droit soit remis en question, et nous condamnons fermement l’usage de la violence.
IndustriAll Europe et ses affiliés appellent le gouvernement à stopper immédiatement l’oppression des membres de syndicats.
In seiner Sitzung heute (25. November 2020) verurteilt der Exekutivausschuss von industriAll Europe das repressive Vorgehen der türkischen Polizei gegen Mitglieder unserer türkischen Mitgliedsorganisation Birlesik Metal-Is auf das Schärfste.
Birlesik Metal-Is hatte gestern Vormittag zu einem Marsch von Gebze nach Ankara aufgerufen, um dagegen zu protestieren, dass Beschäftigte mehrerer Unternehmen ungerechtfertigt entlassen wurden und Covid-19 als Vorwand genutzt wird, um Gewerkschaftsmitglieder in unbezahlten Urlaub zu schicken.
Eine massive Polizeipräsenz verhinderte den Beginn des Marsches, und 109 Mitglieder von Birlesik Metal-Is wurden in Polizeigewahrsam genommen. Videoaufnahmen der Verhaftungen zeigen, dass die Polizei dabei äußerst brutal vorging.
Die Demonstrationsfreiheit ist ein Grundrecht. Wir werden niemals akzeptieren, dass dies in Frage gestellt wird, und wir verurteilen die Anwendung von Gewalt.
IndustriAll Europe und ihre Mitgliedsorganisationen fordern die türkische Regierung auf, die Unterdrückung von Gewerkschaftsmitgliedern unverzüglich zu beenden.
