We must increase our efforts to eliminate all kinds of harassment and violence
Marking the International Day for the elimination of Violence against Women, 25 November, Luc Triangle, industriAll Europe General Secretary, states: “We should all take a firm stance against violence. We must increase our efforts to eliminate all kinds of harassment and violence. We call on companies to implement measures to prevent such incidents, protect and support victims and sanction culprits.”
IndustriAll Europe urges all affiliates to support and participate in its sister organisation IndustriALL Global Union’s campaign “Unions say no to Violence” and in UNiTE’s campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”. Under the leadership of United Nations Secretary General’s Campaign to End Violence against Women (UNiTE), the action days aim to increase awareness and stimulate advocacy. The 2018 theme is Orange the World: #HearMeToo, the colour orange representing a brighter future free from violence against women and girls. Buildings and landmarks shall be lit and decorated in orange to bring attention to the initiative. Organisations are encouraged to host events with local, national and regional women’s movements, and create opportunities for dialogue between activists, policy makers and the public.
