Today is the official launch of the European Fair Transition Observatory – a key social element of the Clean Industrial Deal. Trade unions were united in the call for evidence and data sharing with regards to how the transition unfolds on the ground. This will essentially inform the policy and implementation process to ensure a Just Transition.

IndustriAll Europe congratulates DG EMPL’s Unit Fair Green and Digital Transitions and Research for setting up this important element as part of the EU’s Just Transition Framework. EFTO can count on us to deliver accountability and adapt processes to ensure justice on the ground, on shopfloors in Europe’s regions.

Speaking at the formal launch during the European Social Forum, industriAll Europe’s general secretary Judith Kirton-Darling said

"Fantastic to join the formal launch of the EFTO today. Our members are on the actual and proverbial coal face of the twin transition. Our Just Transition Manifesto called for a European observatory to ensure employment mapping and best practices. This is more urgent as industrial change is accelerating. Anticipating change, worker participation and job quality are fundamental to delivering a fair, just transition. If you don’t measure it, you won’t manage it! Nothing about us without us!"
